Chris Carter asked Mark Snow to come up with a musical piece that would become “Scully’s theme” to represent Scully’s alienation, loneliness, and fear. After hearing the original version Carter suggested one change. In Snow’s original version, the voice could be heard clearly saying the phrase ‘we are near, we are near” and Carter asked that it be changed so the actual words could not be heard.

THe waitress from 5X06 Post-Modern Prometheus was cast because of her cartoonish-like features and cast as the missing FBI agent in I Want To Believe because Chris Carter thought she would be memorable. Carter loved the diner characters from PMP so much he wanted to create a show based on them.

The Sixth Extinction II: Amor Fati was co written by David Duchovny. He was heavily inspired by Kazantzakis’s The Last Temptation of Christ. Duchovny had a strong desire to play something different. In The Last Temptation of Christ Jesus has a period of doubt about his destiny and is freed of his demons. Satan appears in disguise, claiming to be from God (CSM) and tries to convince him to live a normal life. In the story Jesus is tempted with the life of an ordinary man (Mulder’s dream) marriage, sex and family. The dream sequence with Diana was based on the story of when Jesus had sex with a prostitute Mary Magdalene.

David Duchovny was once banned from a Canadian Strip Club. Duchovny appeared on Late Night with Conan O’Brien and made a joke about the weather in Canada. He said things like “It is kind of like a tropical rain forest without the tropics. More like an Ice Age rain forest.” And knocked Vancouver for having “400 inches of rainfall a day.” Some Canadians did not take that lightly and turned on Duchovny. One person being the owner of No.5 Orange, a strip club David and crew would frequent on occasion.

The Great Mutato from 5x06 Post-Modern Prometheus was played by Chris Owens, who also played Mulder’s half brother Jefferey Spender. Owens also played a young Cigarette Smoking Man in Season 4 Demons as well as The Musings of a Cigarette Smoking Man.

Remember when bitches got hot? When Scully and Mulder went from shopping at Sears to shopping at Armani. Well thank David Duchovny. Once the show moved to L.A., David brought on set costumer Nancy Collini that he worked with previously on Playing God to style on The X-Files. She is also the costumer for Californication and most of David’s films.

It was David Duchovny’s idea to cast Mimi Rogers as Diana Fowley. They starred in The Rapture together in 1991. She should probably thank him or not for making her one of the most hated characters in television history.
No one cares about this bitch…but I tried.I actually think I am the ONLY one who cares about this woman, because if it weren’t for the love she actually had for Mulder at some point, he wouldn’t be alive. Sure, she joined the dark side and worked for CSM, but in the end, if she had never had a relationship with Mulder, if she had never actually loved him at some point, Mulder would not be alive right now. If it weren’t because she actually loved Fox Mulder, she would not have risked her own life to give Scully the key to save Mulder, which ended in her death.
I know people hate her because she was going to ‘ruin’ Mulder and Scully’s relationship…but they were not a couple, and yet Diana sensed at some point that Mulder had moved on from what they had in their relationship and realized the amount of respect and love he had for Scully, so thinking she was a threat is like doubting what Mulder and Scully were.
She was also, like Scully, a woman trying to make it in a man’s world, and she was a strong and smart one at that, even if her means were at some point evil, but she re validated herself in the end. Which is one of the reasons I think the writters made the names Diana and Dana so alike.
So Diana Fowley, I would like to be the first to actually say that I thank you, and your flawless strong character, for giving your life to help Mulder live, and for making this famous duos relationship stronger than it already was…
